Privacy Expert Advises Colleges to Bar 2 Popular Internet Tools
An expert on computer security and privacy has warned colleges against continuing to use two popular Internet tools -- telnet and file-transfer protocol -- because they send the user's password unencrypted across the network. Intruders can easily steal unencrypted passwords and use them for breaking into campus-network accounts and gaining access to personal data.
