Presidential Panel Calls on Colleges to Aid in Securing Networks

The White House is seeking comments on a preliminary cybersecurity plan that calls on colleges and universities to develop network safeguards to protect computers from online attacks.

The plan, outlined in a draft report released last month, gives no specifics on how much the federal government should spend on university research to create the safeguards. Nor does the report say what kinds of guidelines should be developed.
