President of U. of Tennessee Is Accused of Getting Job Through Rigged Search
The president of the University of Tennessee, John W. Shumaker, already under fire for his spending practices and use of a university airplane, is now facing questions about how he got the job in the first place. The president's ex-wife, Lucy Shumaker, has charged that the search process was rigged.
The accusation, first reported this month in The Knoxville News Sentinel, was made under oath during the couple's divorce trial, in April. According to the testimony, Ms. Shumaker said that
