President of Student-Aid Group Pleads Not Guilty

President of Student-Aid Group Pleads Not Guilty

Philip R. Day, president of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, pleaded not guilty today to charges that he illegally redirected $150,000 in public money to political campaigns when he was chancellor of the City College of San Francisco, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Mr. Day, who took office as president of the association about a year ago, went on unpaid administrative leave last week, when the charges were announced, and an interim president has been named.

Two administrators still at the college also pleaded not guilty to charges that they too funneled state money to political campaigns, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. All three were released on $10,000 bail each. —Elyse Ashburn
