'President' Sheen Seeks AmeriCorps Expansion
Martin Sheen may only play the president on television, but now he's lobbying the real thing to expand the AmeriCorps national-service program.
Mr. Sheen -- who plays President Josiah Bartlet on the NBC television series The West Wing -- has asked President Clinton to provide stipends to law-school graduates who volunteer their legal services. AmeriCorps provides participants with vouchers worth $4,725 to help cover college expenses or pay back student loans
