The president of Southern Illinois University, Glenn Poshard, has received a report from an internal committee that looked into allegations that the long-range strategic plan for the institution’s Carbondale campus had been largely plagiarized from a similar document at Texas A&M University at College Station, according to an article in the Daily Egyptian, the student newspaper at Carbondale.
The allegations, first reported last month by The Chronicle, say that many of the parts of the Southern at 150 plan are nearly identical to elements of A&M’s Vision 2020. The link between the two seems to have been Walter V. Wendler, who was executive assistant to the president of Texas A&M and served as coordinator of Vision 2020. He is now chancellor of the Carbondale campus.
There’s no word in the Daily Egyptian article about what the report concludes or what actions, if any, Mr. Poshard might take.
