President Bush Names Members of New Council on Bioethics
President Bush announced the members of his new advisory panel on bioethics last week, only a day before the group's first scheduled meeting.
Scientists and lobbyists said they were surprised by some of the 17 people chosen to serve on the President's Council on Bioethics; many are not well-known researchers or bioethicists. Lobbyists said they hoped that the panel would not seek to chill research on stem cells and cloning.
