Preserving Tradition at Catholic Colleges

U.S. Catholic institutions of higher education benefit greatly from their Catholic identity ("Bishops Issue New Guidance on Catholic Colleges' Adherence to Church Teachings," October 1). Older Catholic alumni donate huge sums of money to their endowments (many with the belief that it will be used to support the religious goals of the institution), and Catholics gladly send their children to institutions that provide them with a Catholic
