Preferences Cover Problem They Claim to Correct

To the Editor:

In asserting that "Ballot Initiatives That Oppose Affirmative Action Hurt All" (The Chronicle, October 10), Michele S. Moses, Patricia Marin, and John T. Yun ignore the students who are denied admission because they are the wrong color or have ancestors who came from the wrong country. Surely those students will benefit by ending "affirmative action" — the euphemism used for "racial and ethnic admission preferences."
