Preference Lawsuit Is Settled in Michigan
A state judge has dismissed a lawsuit demanding that the University of Michigan immediately comply with a new voter-passed ban on affirmative-action preferences, after lawyers for the plaintiffs decided that the university was falling into line on its own.
The lawyers dropped the litigation after determining the university had moved in earnest to comply with the amendment to the state's Constitution prohibiting public colleges from offering affirmative-action preferences based on race,
