Pratt Institute Faces Environmental Fines
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is seeking to fine the Pratt Institute, in New York City, $301,000, charging that its handling and disposal of hazardous materials violated federal regulations. The materials included old and obsolete chemicals, used fluorescent light bulbs, and computer monitors.
The agency announced the citation in May, after EPA officials inspected Pratt's facilities, including art studios and workshops where the materials were used.
