Praise for the Association of Research Libraries

I read with dismay the reckless statement of Stanford University's Andrew C. Herkovic, explaining Stanford's withdrawal from the Association of Research Libraries ("Stanford Quits Research-Library Group, Calling It Ineffective," The Chronicle, February 27). In his words, "ARL, as far as I know, has not been a terribly active lobbyist on behalf of research libraries. ...
