I would like to add a few notes to Louis P. Masur's recent exuberant piece about teaching Bruce Springsteen to his students ("The Boss in the Classroom," The Chronicle Review, September 2). As the editor in chief of the Journal of Popular Music Studies, I am delighted to learn that another professor has decided to bring American popular-culture texts into the classroom.
