Politics and Professional Obligations in the Library
To the Editor:
It's not surprising that, as a longtime member — and now president — of the American Library Association, I disagree with David Durant's "The Loneliness of a Conservative Librarian" (Libraries, September 30). I will confine myself here to the points most relevant to the ALA's stand on the USA Patriot Act, as this is a matter of current debate and real concern among Americans across the political spectrum.
