A new Zogby poll has added some fresh kindling to the smoldering controversy over alleged political bias on college and university faculties. According to a recent online poll of 9,464 adults, four out of 10 respondents said they believed that the slanted political views of professors is a serious problem. Not surprisingly, worry over the perceived problem breaks down along partisan lines: 91 percent of respondents who identified themselves as “very conservative” said that bias among academics was a serious problem, while only 3 percent of self-identified liberals agreed. —John Gravois
