The Washington State University Board of Regents has made permanent a rule that gives police officers open access to dormitories, according to The Daily Evergreen, the campus’s student newspaper. The new policy, adopted on a temporary basis in September, was necessitated by a state judge’s ruling in May that giving free access to police officers violated the students’ right to privacy.
