Podcasts and Classes
To the Editor:
I read Jeffrey R. Young's "The Lectures Are Recorded, So Why Go to Class?" (The Chronicle, May 16) with interest. I have been podcasting my American-literature lectures for over two years now. Rather than experiencing a decrease in attendance, I have increased it by requiring any student who misses a lecture to present detailed notes taken from the podcasts. This discourages some students from missing class.
