Plan to Revamp NIH Peer-Review Process Draws Mixed Assessment
Some scientists want still more changes, but others say the current system isn't broken
Depending on which scientist you ask, a far-reaching plan to overhaul peer review at the National Institutes of Health is either too drastic or merely cosmetic, not needed or just about right.
The independent Panel on Scientific Boundaries for Review is now finalizing the changes, which would be the most significant to the agency's peer-review system since it was created in 1994.
