Pieces of History, Gone to the Highest Bidder
In my free time I enjoy writing about history, especially the history of Harvard University, where I work as an editor and a journalism instructor. Because so much has been written about Harvard, for my freelance articles I seek out little-known lore and surprising anecdotes, which often leads me to look through images of historical documents available on eBay. Last year, I came across a copy of Harvard's 1831 treasurer's statement, which I almost paged past -- until I noticed the name
