Picket Lines Bloom on Campuses
Ah, spring. See the flowers, smell the freshly cut grass, listen to the graduate students chanting on campuses.
Teaching assistants at the University of Wisconsin at Madison held a two-day walkout in late April in hopes of spurring state officials to settle contract negotiations. The TA's briefly considered a grade strike before deciding against it. Meanwhile, at Columbia University, a graduate-student strike entered its third week, prompting administrators to make contingency plans
