Physicist and President at Prairie View A&M in Dispute Over Federal Grant; New Chief of Whitehead Institute Is U. of Chicago Biologist
HIGH-ENERGY COLLISION: Dennis J. Judd might have to choose between his job as a professor of physics at Prairie View A&M University, in Texas, and a grant that allows him and his students to participate in experiments at prestigious high-energy-physics laboratories.
Although Mr. Judd, 66, has received the grant from the U.S. Department of Energy for the past 13 years, the university's president, Charles A. Hines, has decided that he will block the project from continuing at Prairie
