Photographs and Fraud Over Race

In September, the University of Wisconsin at Madison was exposed, to use a photographic term. The cover of its new admissions brochure displayed a photograph of happy U.W. students attending a football game at their home stadium -- a photograph that turned out to have been doctored. The original picture contained no black faces, but U.W. officials had desperately wanted their admissions materials to reflect a diverse student body.
