Ph.D.'s Who Leave Academe for Industry
To the Editor:
The tenor of Scott Smallwood's January 12 article, "Psychology Ph.D.'s Pass on Academe," is surprisingly negative. I don't believe that the news that more psychology Ph.D.'s (along with business and economics Ph.D.'s) are working in industry is problematic for institutions of higher learning. Colleges and universities suffer no loss of intellectual capital for those psychology students who enter a doctoral program for the purpose of securing a job in industry. Those
