Ph.D.'s Are on the Upswing, Along With Minorities in Grad School
The number of doctorates awarded nationwide rose by 9 percent last year, says a report to be released today by the Council of Graduate Schools. The increase is up from a 5-percent boost between 2005 and 2006 and is the largest jump in the last seven years, said Stuart Heiser, the council's manager of government relations and external affairs.
