Ph.D. Student's Piano Tribute to Virginia Tech Victims Is a YouTube Hit

A music student’s richly textured piano composition in memory of those killed at Virginia Tech has become a YouTube hit, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Evan Mack, a second-year doctoral student in piano at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music, wrote the song, called “There’s No Sunset in Virginia.” After YouTube posted it on the site’s main page, it attracted thousands of viewers. On Saturday Mr. Mack began selling a new recording of the song for $1.99 on his Web site, pledging that the proceeds would go to a memorial fund at Virginia Tech. —Lawrence Biemiller
