Pennsylvania Scraps Plan to Admit Top 15% of Graduating Classes
Pennsylvania's state-university system has scrapped plans to automatically admit the top 15 percent of every high-school graduating class in the state.
Instead, the 14-campus system may guarantee admission to students who score high on a statewide standardized test and take a college-preparatory curriculum.
Officials decided to abandon the 15-percent idea because of negative publicity surrounding similar plans in Florida and Texas, and after the U.S.
