Pell Grant and NIH Would Get Increases in House Spending Bill for 2009

The maximum Pell Grant would rise by $169, to $4,900, and the National Institutes of Health, the largest source of funds for academic research, would get a boost of $1.2-billion, or 4 percent, under a spending bill for 2009 approved by a U.S. House of Representatives panel on Thursday.
