This table shows the pay and benefits received by the chief executive and the five highest-paid employees (other than the top officer) at each of 600 private colleges.

Figures on pay are given for the five most recent available fiscal years. The information about benefits covers only the latter four fiscal years. The Chronicle compiled the information from the Form 990 each institution filed with the Internal Revenue Service for the past two years. The form requires nonprofit
