Paul Krugman to Leave MIT for Princeton's Growing Economics Department; Options Dwindle in Search for U. of Florida President

Princeton University's economics department has snagged another star: Paul Krugman, the sharp-tongued trade theorist whose writing in the popular press, including regular columns in The New York Times, has helped make him nationally known.

Except for short stints at Stanford and Yale Universities, Mr. Krugman has spent his career at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He said in an interview that he wanted to go to Princeton primarily to be near his parents. They recently moved
