'Party Investigators' Look for Fun in Harvard Yard

Dorm parties at Harvard University are eligible for grant money from the student government, which is at pains to be sure that its undergraduate charges do not turn into joyless grinds. But according to an article in Monday’s Harvard Crimson, if the government is to hand out party favors, it must assure itself that the money is being used as intended. Hence the need for “Party Investigators.” The duly deputized representatives of the Undergraduate Council spent the weekend investigating parties, if you please. This is either a brilliant parable of the nanny state in microcosm, or a brilliant example of how the elite at Harvard are different from you and me — they get others to subsidize their fun. It’s unclear from the Crimson report if the investigators turned up any good times.
