Paradoxically, New Drugs Could Accelerate AIDS Epidemic, Scientists Say

The development of new drugs to treat AIDS could inadvertently accelerate the AIDS epidemic if physicians and patients are careless.

"We do need to treat people, but we need to do it in a careful manner," Sally M. Blower warned at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, which ended last week in Anaheim, Cal.
