Panel Seeks Flat Budget for NEH
The U.S. House of Representatives' Committee on Appropriations voted last week against any spending increases for the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities, keeping both agencies' budgets at their current levels in the 2002 fiscal year. Republican lawmakers rejected an amendment proposed by Democrats to provide more money for the cultural endowments.
