Panel Endorses Cloning for Stem Cells

A committee convened by the National Research Council said in January that Congress should pass a law prohibiting scientists from using cloning technologies to create a child. But the group said scientists should still be allowed to use the technologies to create stem cells for research.

In February, the Senate is expected to debate legislation banning all forms of human cloning.
