Palin Supported Extra Funds for U. of Alaska
In her first term as governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin hasn't made higher education a particularly prominent priority, although she has been credited with supporting an increase in operating money for higher education and helping to reduce a $400-million backlog of deferred maintenance in the state's university system.
The University of Alaska got a 7-percent increase in operating funds for the 2008-9 budget year, only the fourth time in 20 years that the system has won an increase
