A lawyer for three Palestinian students who were seriously injured in a recent fight at Guilford College said today that his clients planned to drop charges against two of their alleged attackers, and would do the same with the other four if those students apologized to them, the News & Record, a newspaper in Greensboro, N.C., reported.
The Palestinian students, two of whom attend Guilford, previously said that the six students, all football players at the college, beat them and called them racial slurs during the January 20 incident. The lawyer said that his clients had “learned of the [two] players’ lack of involvement” in the fight, according to the News & Record.
Guilford has charged five of the students who fought, including the two Palestinians, with violating its conduct code. A campus judiciary trial has yet to take place. In a written statement, Guilford officials said today that “even if the students apologize to one another, there are consequences for violations” of its code.
