Pa. Governor Signs Bill Exempting Colleges From Laws on Same-Sex Partners
Gov. Tom Ridge of Pennsylvania signed a bill last month that will exempt state colleges from any municipal ordinance requiring institutions to provide health benefits to the same-sex partners of employees. The controversial measure could end a legal battle over health benefits at the University of Pittsburgh.
The measure at issue was attached to a state House of Representatives bill regarding railway police officers. The amended bill was approved in November
