PSAT Retains Tie to Merit Scholarships
The College Board endorsed the continued use of the PSAT as a qualifying exam for National Merit Scholarships last week, despite concerns that the awards go disproportionately to white students who, on average, score better than their minority counterparts on the test.
A panel of trustees of the College Board, which owns the test, had recommended that the organization continue its relationship with the National Merit Scholarship program. The Board of Trustees unanimously affirmed that
