Oversight for Research
To the Editor:
The thrust of Goldie Blumenstyk's article "When Research Criticizes an Industry" (The Chronicle, September 21) seems to be to defend policies of no external oversight of university research. Themes in her quotes and interpretation convey a similar argument to the one President Bush uses to continue the Iraq war, spy on Americans, fire U.S. attorneys, etc., which is basically: "Trust me. You are either with me or against me." …
