Outsourcing the Dorm Network
Hammered by file sharers and other bandwidth hogs, some colleges hire companies to handle Internet service for studentsA year ago two tin cans and a string might have worked better than the Internet connection in Laura DeNitto's dormitory room.
A handful of students at the State University of New York College at Potsdam, where Ms. DeNitto is a sophomore, were hogging the bandwidth in the dormitories as they swapped large numbers of huge music files.
