Budget request

  • For universities, $807.2-million, a 36.6-percent increase.
  • For two-year colleges, $230-million, a 45.8-percent increase.

Outlook for budget request

  • Uncertain. Mississippi officials are still unsure how much Hurricane Katrina will cost the state, especially since they don't know how much Mississippi will need to reimburse the Federal Emergency Management Agency
