Out of Toon
A series of comic-strip postcards designed to recruit California high-school students to a liberal-arts college in Nebraska instead prompted a faculty outcry that caused administrators to stop the mailings last month.
Doane College halted the cartoons after faculty members, citing the sexist implication, objected to a panel that depicts a fictional high-school student daydreaming about being surrounded by attractive women at the college and getting to "play the field."
