Out at the Ball Game: the New Look of Sports
When Brendan Lemon, editor of the queer monthly magazine Out, wrote his regular editorial for the May 2001 issue, he did something quite irregular -- he outed a Major League baseball player as his boyfriend. Or rather, he almost did. No names, no positions, but some hints -- plays for a storied Eastern franchise (Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, Orioles, Phillies?) and is "a very recognizable media figure," in Lemon's words.
