Oshkosh Student's Homework Excuse Bombs

A student at the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh sent an anonymous e-mail bomb threat to university officiails on Monday as a way of gaining more time to work on a class assignment, according to an article in today’s Oshkosh Northwestern. The student, Jennifer C. Merrigan, at first denied making a threat, but after investigators turned up surveillance video showing that she had been using the campus computer from which the threat was sent at the time the message was transmitted, she came clean. She said she didn’t think her message could be traced. She now faces a felony charge that could cost her a $10,000 fine and could land her in jail for three and a half years. Plenty of time to finish that assignment there.
