Orthodoxy, Heterodoxy, and Rational Behavior: the State of Economics Today
To the Editor:
I hold an economics degree from the University of Notre Dame (Ph.D., 1989), the university prominently featured in Peter Monaghan's article "Taking On 'Rational Man'" (January 24). Permit me two comments.
First, I chose to study in Notre Dame's economics department precisely because I wanted to study orthodox and heterodox views of economics. This, I believe, Notre Dame ought to continue to do. Teach both and let the students decide which career path to choose.
