Oregon Governor Asks 4 Higher-Education Board Members to Resign
The governor of Oregon asked this month for the resignations of 4 of the 11 members of the state's Board of Higher Education.
Gov. Ted Kulongoski, a Democrat, said he was not unhappy with the board members but wanted to make a new start. A fifth resignation is expected. The governor cited the need to put money toward college programs that will help revitalize the economy and to ensure that all Oregonians can afford to attend state colleges.
