Online Application Company Accuses a Rival of Selling Student Data
CollegeNET, a company that provides online services for colleges and their applicants, filed a federal lawsuit this month against one of its competitors, Xap Corporation, accusing it of agreeing to sell students' contact information to lenders without permission.
Xap officials maintain that they do receive consent from students before releasing any information to loan agencies, and that the lenders receive contact information only.
