Online Admissions Company Wins $8.5-Million in Suit Against Rival
A Federal jury has awarded CollegeNET, a company that sells online admissions services, $8.5-million in its lawsuit against a rival, the Xap Corporation. But in a separate verdict, the jury invalidated a good chunk of one of CollegeNET's patents.
The verdicts, which were handed down this month, still must be reviewed by U.S. District Judge Anna J. Brown, who tried the case in Oregon. A final ruling on the award could come in January.
