An Aggrieved Senator Holds Forth Against the Bowl Championship Series

Sen. Orrin Hatch, a Republican from Utah, has long been critical of the Bowl Championship Series, college football’s oft-maligned system for crowning a national champion. But his disdain has grown more pronounced in the months since the University of Utah's football team, despite its undefeated record in 2008, was not invited to play for the national title and took home a much smaller share of bowl revenue than did colleges that belong to the six BCS athletic conferences.
