One President Tapped; Another Speaks Out
* The University of Washington has concluded a difficult 17-month search for a president, selecting an alumnus, Mark A. Emmert, chancellor of Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge.
The search had been complicated by the disclosure that Washington's board had encouraged the university's previous president, Richard L. McCormick, to take a job at Rutgers University after trustees learned that he had had an affair with a subordinate.
