A looming shortage of local crafts on Prince Edward Island has resulted in the creation of college scholarships for island residents who want to be artisans.

Residents of the Canadian province can receive $6,500 per year for up to four years to study art, crafts, or design at a college or university, provided they promise to come back to the island after graduation to sell their wares.
